Joo Chiat Car-Free Day on 3 October 2026

Singapore is celebrating World Car-Free Day on 3rd October 2026. This year, the car-free day will shift away from CBD area to Joo Chiat.

Here are the highlights of World Car-Free Day 2026

The Invisible City: A Gamified Journey Across Singapore

Running from 1 September to 30 November, The Invisible City invites participants to uncover hidden stories across the island through a mobile, location‑based challenge on CrowdTaskSG. As users walk, cycle, or ride public transport to complete missions, new elements of a virtual Singapore map are revealed—highlighting public spaces, heritage sites, and community touchpoints curated with partner agencies.

Joo Chiat Car‑Free Day: Streets Alive on 3 October

For one evening, a stretch of Joo Chiat Road will be closed to vehicles, allowing visitors to explore one of Singapore’s most iconic heritage neighborhoods on foot or by bike. The event features interactive exhibits, sustainability showcases, fitness activities, cultural performances, and a community party anchored by local groups and businesses. From pickleball and rollerblading to Baba Nyonya dance fitness and a lively Kueh Party, the programme showcases how streets can become vibrant public spaces that encourage active mobility and social connection.

LTA World Car‑Free Day Challenge: Walking Towards Health

From 14 to 30 September, Healthy 365 users can earn a special edition badge by clocking 10,000 steps for four consecutive days. The challenge encourages Singaporeans to embrace walking as a simple, sustainable, and healthy part of daily life.

A Collective Push for Active Mobility

Across all activities, World Car‑Free Day 2026 reinforces LTA’s broader efforts to promote walking, cycling, and public transport. With expanding cycling networks, improved first‑ and last‑mile connectivity, and more people‑friendly streets, Singapore continues to shape a future where moving sustainably is both easy and enjoyable.
