Say Goodbye to Your GrabPay Card from 1st June 2024

This is a PSA. For those who still do not realize, your GrabPay Card is going to be discontinued from 1st June 2024. It was announced by Grab, and widely by other media outlets.

I am not sure about your impact. For my case, I have not been using GrabPay Card for a long time ever since they tweaked their point system to disallow accumulation of GrabRewards points via it.

It used to be my favorite card, but it has now become a card that I will use it last. This might be the case for most holders of this card. Based on Grab, here is their explanation.

Why is Grab discontinuing the GrabPay Card?

After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue the GrabPay Card effective 1 June 2024. This decision comes after an evaluation of our existing financial services business. We have observed much higher adoption and use of other Grab offerings (such as PayLater by Grab, GrabPay Wallet) that better cater to the needs of our users. We aim to thus concentrate our efforts on refining these products to provide an even better user experience for you.

We thank our customers for their support of GrabPay Card over the last few years, and remain committed to serving our customers and partners through other financial offerings on the platform.

So, if you are happily using it, you need to start to think of an alternative card for your usage. Some facts that you might need to know (from Grab)

What this means for you

  • Grab will no longer be accepting new applications for the digital/physical GrabPay Card, effective 1 April 2024
  • GrabPay Card will no longer be available for ‘Tap & Pay’ use on Android phones with effect from 19 April 2024.
  • You may request a replacement of your physical GrabPay Card until 30 April 2024. Note that we won’t be accepting card replacement requests after this date.
  • You may continue earning GrabRewards points on all eligible online and in-store transactions both locally and overseas with your GrabPay Card until 31 May 2024. There is no change to the number of GrabRewards points you will earn on transactions. Note that a non-refundable 2% processing fee still applies for overseas transactions.
  • If you have a physical GrabPay Card but have yet to activate it, you may do so until 31 May 2024. Note that you won’t be able to activate or use your card after this date.
  • Starting 1 June 2024, you will no longer be able to make online or offline transactions with your digital/physical GrabPay Card.
