Apple launches the iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, Watch Ultra 3, Watch Series 11, Watch SE 3, AirPod Pro 3 in an event in the US.
Here is a quick summary of all these new products. In my opinion, the only interesting one is the iPhone Air.
iPhone Air
The 6.5-inch iPhone Air is the newest and thinnest iPhone ever. It is powered by the powerful new Apple A19 Pro chip and has only one camera. With iOS 26’s adaptive battery Mode, it has an all-day battery life. BTW, iPhone 17 Air has only eSIM (no physical SIM card).

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have a unique camera module. You will either love it or hate it. And this year, it seems that Apple is promoting the Cosmic Orange as the hero color for iPhone 17 Pro. I really hate it. As for screen size, it comes in 6.3-inch for iPhone 17 Pro and 6.9-inch for iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both are powered by the new A19 Pro chip and Apple has increased the available maximum internal storage to 2 TB.
Overall, based on the features of iPhone 17 Pro series, what I think is interesting is the video capability. It has a new feature called Genlock for precise video synchronization for quick video alignment. To use this feature, you will need the Blackmagic GenLock device. I think video creators can use this feature for multiple camera angles easily.

iPhone 17
The iPhone 17 has a 6.3-inch screen and is powered by the Apple A19 chip with 2-camera module setup. At one glance, it looks like iPhone 16. Do you think so?
It seems that Apple has removed the Plus model but increases the size of the base model to 6.3-inch (iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch respectively).

Apple Watch Ultra 3
Apple Watch Ultra 3 is my favorite watch amongst all the Apple watches announced. It now has a thinner border which means a larger screen size without increasing the watch size. It has all the features of the Watch Series 11 and also comes with Satellite communications which is great for outdoor enthusiasts who trek beyond the cellular range. However, it is a subscription-based feature which Apple will be providing 2 years free. Do note that on Singapore Apple website, it does not mention anything about the Satellite feature. So, if you are buying the Watch Ultra 3 for this feature, do check with Apple Singapore on this usage first.

Apple Watch SE 3
If you just want an Apple Watch, the Apple Watch SE 3 is the go-to as it is the most affordable with most of the features of the Watch Series 11.

Apple Watch Series 11
Apple Watch Series 11 looks like the previous version. This time, Apple’s focus is on heart and sleep health. Apple Watch Series 11 can help to detect Hypertension (or High Blood Pressure). As you wear the watch, it will use machine learning to detect the changes and update accordingly. This Watch Series 11 gets up to 24 hours of battery life and with 5G connectivity.

Apple AirPods Pro 3
This latest Apple AirPods Pro 3 has better active noise cancellation feature, live language translation feature (currently with support to limited languages), heart rate sensor and IP57 certification for dust and water resistance.

That is it. A summary of the Apple event. There are not many surprises, and I am feeling a little disappointed at the products launched. The feeling of lack of innovation and playing catch-up with competitors is creeping in. Hopefully, we have better products next year.
