Sorry for not updating the site with news for a while. I founded TechieLobang in 2007. Over the years, consumption of information has evolved. After many thoughts, TechieLobang must also evolve.
In the past, a blog post is sufficient to deliver a piece of news. It is still relevant but not as effective or efficient now. With the influx of social media, things move a lot faster. Sharing of information becomes an Instagram post, a TikTok post, a YouTube short at incredible speed.
And Tech news is not as straight forward as compared to previously. For example, a car 20 years ago might be a tech news to introduce a technologically advance engine or such. Now, with EV (Electric Vehicle), we are talking about software integration, battery technology and tech features that are so different. Who could have thought in 20 years, cars have evolved so much.
Another example, social media is so different in the past as compared to now. ICQ, Friendster might be unfamiliar for many now. Previously, they were tools for us to communicate across the globe. Now, even Facebook is sometimes “classified” as a place for “old people”.
Technology is not limited to just a device now. It is integrated into everyday things like a pair of smart spectacles, washing machine, fridge, a toy and etc.
TechieLobang is embracing these changes. When I named the website TechieLobang, my objective is purely to share tech news (Techie as in Tech and Lobang as in Malay/Singlish word for opportunities or chance).
TechieLobang will continue to share tech news on this website. As there are a lot of tech news and no one has the patience to read a blog post on a single tech news, I will summarize or consolidate them in bite size for easy consumption with links to more established reporting if you need the details (PS: This will save a lot of time on my side too).
In the past year, I have been very active on TikTok and have been sharing information on events I have attended. I am also very active on non-tech events like Pop Mart events, CJ Hendry events (Flower Market, JuJu World), car shows and etc. If you think that these will interest you, follow me on TikTok.
Because some of these are not Tech News, TechieLobang will be segregated to Techie and Lobang. It means tech stuff will still be shared and the “Lobang” will include social stuff and others that do not fit in the tech category. In short, you can say that TechieLobang is now a Lifestyle website instead of a pure Tech website.
